About this Opportunity:

Greenbelt Alliance is hiring a Resilience Associate based in the Bay Area, with a primary focus on supporting regional and statewide land use and housing initiatives for a more climate resilient and affordable future for California. This role is critical in advancing our mission to foster climate resilience through city-centered climate-smart development that emphasizes the importance of accelerating housing production to increase access and affordability within our existing cities and towns, close to jobs and transit while protecting precious natural and working lands and wildlife corridors.

This position will play a key role in advancing a bold agenda to increase climate-resilient housing and land use opportunities around the state while protecting critical ecosystems and wildlife habitat. The Resilience Associate will play a key role in the Alliance for Housing and Climate Solutions (Alliance)— an ambitious statewide coalition of environmental and housing advocates — through community outreach, meeting and event planning, background policy research, and information management.

If you are passionate about sustainable land use, solving California’s housing crisis, and share our vision and urgency for climate resilience, this could be the role for you!

You’ll be a great Resilience Associate for Greenbelt Alliance if you:

  • Bring a passion for forging community partnerships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders on finding equitable solutions, with a commitment to the environment and climate-smart housing for all.
  • Are detail-oriented in the planning and execution of tasks, with an interest in keeping diverse coalitions running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Enjoy working on a range of tasks to advance an ambitious policy and political agenda for transformational change to bring more homes to California’s cities and neighborhoods while protecting critical habitat and climate-vulnerable ecosystems.

Key activities will include:

  • Assist with meeting facilitation for Alliance convenings, including planning and scheduling
  • Collaborate with Alliance leadership to coordinate planning, scheduling, and administration of Alliance events and activities and keep all participants informed and on track
  • Maintain Alliance databases and informational sources
  • Contribute to the development of position letters, fact sheets, policy work, and reports
  • Assist with tracking, analyzing, and reporting on state legislation and other legislative efforts
  • Collaborate on research efforts to inform policy proposals and strategy development
  • Assist with administration of Greenbelt Alliance’s Climate SMART Endorsement Committee

Desired Qualifications for Associate:
We do not expect any single candidate to have extensive expertise/experience in all of these areas, but will prioritize candidates with demonstrated success being a critical-thinker and quick-learner.

  • Extreme attention to detail, with the ability to independently identify and execute all tasks associated with an event or project assigned
  • Knowledge, experience or interest in politics and/or housing policy advocacy is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, forging working partnerships, and cultivating new audiences.

  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, responsibility and maintaining transparency.
  • Values active communication, compassion, being bold and having fun.
  • Strong project management skills.

Benefits:
