Annual Salary: USD $58,000-62,000 per year
Reporting To: Director of Major Gifts

Greenbelt Alliance is hiring for a Development Associate who will be instrumental to ensuring effective fundraising from individual major donors, foundations, government grants and fundraising events. This role will serve as critical support in the development department administrative and research tasks.

We are looking for someone who is a team player and excited to participate in fundraising activities including donor relations, database management, corporate and foundation support, fundraising appeals, and special events, such as outings and mixers. Key activities will include:

  • Serve as key administrative point of contact for our three-person development team, and Executive Director when needed
  • Manage all aspects of donation processing and tracking (including mailed in and online gifts from donors, grants, government contracts) updating and maintaining Salesforce database and other fundraising systems, coordinating with Finance team
  • Support coordinating the seasonal fundraising appeals process (in print and digital)
  • Assist in donor stewardship activities, including holiday cards and processing acknowledgement letters
  • Support philanthropic foundation and government grant proposal submissions
  • Conduct research for new individual donors, foundations, government grant opportunities to pursue
  • Assist in updating the major donor pipeline tasks and responsibilities, and help keep the development team on track by taking notes in meetings and managing up when necessary

Desired Qualifications for Associate:
We do not expect any single candidate to have extensive expertise/experience in all of these areas, but will prioritize candidates with demonstrated success being a critical-thinker and quick-learner.

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor or community relations, grants management, and/or other administrative experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to strategize creatively, think critically, and proactively address issues.
  • Proponent of continuous process improvement.
  • Exceptional communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, responsibility and maintaining transparency.
  • Self-starting work ethic, comfortable with both collaborative and independent work.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and deal effectively with ambiguity.
  • Familiarity and experience using any of the following software is a plus: Google Suite, Asana, Coda, Slack, Salesforce, Zoom, Quickbooks, BILL, Divvy, Classy, Insperity.
