Update: Sonoma County voters have passed Measure O to maintain high-quality fire and emergency services for all!
Greenbelt Alliance encourages Sonoma County residents to ensure adequate fire and emergency services for the Schell-Vista Fire Protection District through a special tax. The district has provided ample fire prevention, fire suppression, and life safety services since 1942 and runs about 800 emergency calls for services per year, offering reliable protection and keeping the community safe.
The approval of Measure O will continue the revenue of approximately $800,000 that was approved by voters of Measure X in 2018 by renewing the special tax for an additional four years. The parcel tax would be enacted at a maximum rate of $200.00 for residential properties; $0.14 per square foot for lodging, commercial and industrial properties; and $100.00 for other parcels. Through funds raised by Measure X, the district has shown its ability to operate a full-time, highly professional fire protection system and we want to ensure that these services continue.
Why We Supported Measure O
It’s important that our communities have reliable and trained professionals handling our fire and emergency services in order to create a safer environment for current and future residents. With the severity of our state’s fire season increasing year to year, it is imperative that we take the necessary actions to ensure our community has the proper resources to respond to growing climate threats
