We’re excited to report that the Millbrae City Council approved the Millbrae Serra Station development. This dynamic proposal, which Greenbelt Alliance endorsed in April of 2018, will transform 3.5 acres of underutilized land just steps away from both BART and Caltrain into a thriving, transit-oriented community with a mix of homes, jobs, and shops.
The project includes 444 homes—15% permanently affordable to low and moderate income residents—along with new stores and offices. The developer Vincent Muzzi, a Millbrae resident, has integrated nature into the project as well, including green rooftops and a nearby community park. And in keeping with the transit-rich setting, Millbrae Serra Station will include ample walking paths and secure storage for bicycles, as well as shuttles to and from nearby schools and downtown.
Thanks to the San Mateo Housing Leadership Council, Friends of Caltrain, and our other partners for joining us in championing the approval of this smart project.
Together, Millbrae Serra Station and its neighbor Gateway at Millbrae Station will create nearly 900 homes within walking distance of two of the Bay Area’s major transit systems. Their approval is a clear sign that the City of Millbrae is committed to growing smartly, and an inspiring example for other cities about how to provide healthy, thriving neighborhoods for all Bay Area residents while safeguarding our vital greenbelt lands.
