Donors and friends of Greenbelt Alliance experienced the Bay Area’s agriculture in downtown San Francisco on Thursday, May 16. Our annual happy hour featured local farms and ranches and their products, including wines and tastings from our lead sponsor McEvoy Ranch.
Thanks to our guests’ generosity, we exceeded our fundraising goal and raised over $50,000. That’s a huge boost for protecting and supporting local agriculture.

Contributions from our Farms and Ranches Forever Fest support our work to protect agricultural land across the Bay Area. This year’s featured campaign is Contra Costa County where major sprawling expansions threaten local farms and ranches. The greatest threat today is the city of Brentwood’s “build-out” plan that would consume 2,100 acres of prime farm and ranch land outside of the urban limit line. We’re working with local voters to stop the proposal and instead, promote sustainable development within the city. We are also shaping the county’s policies to support the agricultural economy while guarding against inappropriate development.
