Annual Salary: $60-64k
Reporting To: Marketing and Communications Manager

About this Opportunity:

Greenbelt Alliance is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Marketing and Communications Associate to help advance our mission of building climate resilience in the Bay Area. In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to translate complex environmental issues into compelling content that engages diverse audiences and drives action. You’ll be responsible for managing our social media presence, creating multimedia content, and supporting our digital marketing efforts. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy and brings fresh ideas, strong writing skills, a great acumen for visual materials, and a passion for sustainability to help grow our impact in a collaborative team environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to building the brand of our 65+ year old organization as a trustworthy and inclusive source of information around land-use and climate resilience initiatives.

Your day-to-day will focus on executing our digital strategy through social media management, content creation, website updates, and campaign support. You’ll collaborate across departments to highlight our work and inspire community action. The ideal candidate is passionate about climate advocacy, nimble, eager to learn, and excited to create innovative communications that drive engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and create engaging content across our social media channels, proactively identifying trending topics and partnership opportunities
  • Design visually appealing graphics and materials for digital and print communications
  • Craft compelling stories for our website, blog, and newsletters that highlight our impact
  • Create and edit video content for multiple channels
  • Support email marketing campaigns, community outreach, and event promotion
  • Maintain website content and assist with analytics tracking

Desired Qualifications for Associate:

  • 1-3 years of marketing or communications experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to research and write compelling content for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in social media management, content management system platforms, and email tools
  • Skilled in graphic design (Canva, Adobe Suite), photography, and basic video editing and ability to follow branding guidelines
  • Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, remote-friendly environment
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into accessible content
  • Passion for climate resilience and environmental justice
  • Attention to detail and deadlines
