As construction begins on the first homes to be rebuilt since the fires, Greenbelt Alliance is engaging with Sonoma County leaders on longer-term fire recovery plans and policies that are now underway.
At the Board of Supervisors meeting, new Chair James Gore announced a series of important public workshops to craft a countywide Fire Recovery Plan to finalize priorities for rebuilding, funding, and long-term recovery.
Greenbelt Alliance is advocating for city-centered growth, greenbelt protection, reduced fire risk, and incentives for greener building wherever possible. We are initiating conversations about enabling people who want to move out of fire-risk areas, to be able to do so with 100% voluntary programs that fund fire resiliency and land protection, but with no net loss of housing.
Mark your calendars to attend and/or provide written input on specific policies and projects you would like to see in the county plan at one of the meetings below.
