Friday, September 21 was PARK(ing) Day, an annual worldwide event sponsored by Rebar during which participants transform metered parking spots into pop up parks. To celebrate, Greenbelt Alliance created pop up parks in Walnut Creek, San Francisco, and San Jose (Read more about our day in San Jose).
Some of our neighbors included repurposed parking spaces by the Ruth Bancroft Garden, Bike Walnut Creek, Lululemon, TransForm, and many more! Throughout the day, passersby expressed what they loved about their city, relaxed in our parks, and chatted with us about how best to use our limited urban land in the developing Bay Area.
