Groundbreaking New Report Offers Smart Growth Vision For Development in San Jose's Coyote Valley

Subheading

Who: Greenbelt Alliance and the land use and architecture firms of Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC (WRT) and Solomon E.T.C., a WRT Company.

What: Release of a groundbreaking new report, Getting It Right: Preventing Sprawl in Coyote Valley.

When: Tuesday, June 3, 2003. The news briefing will run from 10:30-11:30 AM, followed by a guided tour of Coyote Valley from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.

Where: 101 East San Fernando Street, at 3rd Street, in downtown San Jose. Greenbelt Alliance will take interested media on a tour of Coyote Valley immediately after the news conference.

Why: In response to the City of San Jose's plan to allow development in Coyote Valley, a 6,800 acre area of open space and agricultural land on the city's southeastern edge, Greenbelt Alliance convened a year-long series of workshops with a broad spectrum of stakeholders to discuss how and where Coyote Valley should be developed. The result of this process is the report Getting It Right, which provides a smart growth vision for Coyote Valley that addresses such issues as environmental sustainability, social equity, economic vitality, and creating a sense of community.  Getting It Right is a comprehensive, well-researched report designed to inform and influence the city's process to create a specific plan for development in Coyote Valley.
