NEW REPORT URGES SMART GROWTH FOR VACAVILLE

PRESS ADVISORY

Vacaville—Vacaville can accommodate future growth within its city limits without annexing and developing surrounding farmland and open space, according to a new report from Greenbelt Alliance and the Solano Orderly Growth Committee. The report, Vacaville at a Crossroads, will be released on Monday, November 11, 2002.

"Vacaville city officials are considering a proposal to annex and develop over 4,000 acres beyond the current city limits, including the high quality farmlands and scenic valleys that make Vacaville unique," says Natalie DuMont, Solano-Napa Field Representative for Greenbelt Alliance. "Our report demonstrates how Vacaville can meet the current and future needs of its residents by pursuing smart growth policies within the existing city."

Greenbelt Alliance protects open space and promotes livable communities in the San Francisco Bay Area through public policy development, advocacy and education. The report will be available on Monday, November 11, 2002 at www.greenbelt.org, or by contacting Natalie DuMont at 707.427.2308, ndumont@greenbelt.org.
